There is something so classic about the basicness of matte nude nails as the autumn air starts to turn and chill our bones. Paint the polish onto the nails once lightly, and when the first coat has penetrated the nails, apply the second coat. However, be sure to wait till both coats have sealed the nails altogether. Then seal it all with a no-shine matte topcoat. Air-dry; quick-dry sprays sometimes make matte topcoats look cloudy, and we would not interfere with that velvet finish.
Personally, I return to this minimalist manicure every season. When all other people are into sparkle on fall weddings, this subtle form of beauty is the one which draws the most attention because it is the one which has the courage to remain calm.
Champagne Glitz with Silver Confetti Tips
It is that blinged-out feeling of just said yes- energy-just ready to be trying on during evening receptions, or pre-wedding parties. It has a soft jelly base in a blush pink that is sheer enough to feel romantic yet strong to hold the dramatic silver glittered tips. The sequins begin understated at the cuticle and gradually work to an eruption of metallic bits on the tips. It is jubilant, it is festive–just what the doctor ordered on a glittering fall evenings.
You will require a sheer pink foundation such as Essie Ballet Slippers, chunky silver glitter such as ILNP Mega and makeup sponge to create a gradient effect. The top coat of glossy finish is used to seal the shine and keep a certain depth to the glitter without making it too much in the design.
Once your base coat polish is dry, use a sponge to lightly drop the glitter sweet to the tips using a dabbing motion and have better control. Paste the glitter brick by brick so that you do not lose the gloss of the base. The last shiny top coat gives the appearance added protection, but also makes the faux diamond all the more shiny- as the light catches it by candle or twinkling holiday lights.
It has a kind of cinematic nature to it something like walking into your own romantic movie, where you are a lead actor. At one of my weddings fashioned as it happened in late October, I wore something similar and all I can say people talked more about my nails than the dress.
Modern French Almond with Gold Accents
It is a sharp, sophisticated and outright alluring took on the French manicure. The almond outline lends a sense of class and the edges of the white tips are bordered in the lightest strip of metallic gold. To do this you will require a sheer base and the base that I recommend is the Dior nude look, a stark white polish like the Sally Hansen white on and some gold nail striping tape or a gold detailing brush. Orly has a “Gold Leaf” that gives a very fine line of metallic that is difficult to chip.
The trick here is precision. Apply your base and allow it to dry completely. Give french tip guides or free hand your white tips and then neatly outline with gold. Cap off the whole thing to a smoothing topcoat to keep everything firmly locked in place and deny any lifting or smudging of the tape to do so.
If you’re not sure whether to lean classic or trendy for your fall wedding, this design says—why not both? That shimmer of gold seems to be an acknowledgment to leaves falling and the golden hour. I can never stop thinking of it as a manicure and it would be so much at home in a candle-lighted back yard and at a chateau.
Pressed Wildflower Whites
Fragile, diaphanous and slightly ghostly, this nail design appeals to the romantic who takes her solace in antique pressed flowers and the windswept grasses. White hand-painted flowers are done on a nude pink ground that is similar to how the flowers appear to have been painted in moonlight. What you’ll need is a translucent nude polish (try Butter London’s “Mum’s the Word”) and a sharp white nail art pen or fine-tip brush with white gel paint. I used the liner brush: that brushes needle-like brush Beetles Nail art Kit -you need this brush to give you the controlled lines.
Start with your base and cure it fully. Then lightly trace the flower outline, one or two to be painted on each nail. Vary the angle and size to keep things natural. Either allow the gel to dry or cure it in a UV lamp then add finishing touches using a soft-gloss topcoat so that the hand drawn nature is not completely lost.
This one’s my personal favorite for late September. It is a reunion of the fading of summer and the voice of fall-almost like a flower that refuses to leave yet has flowered a day too long.
Classic Milky Fade for Clean Autumn Glam
Milky ombr nail polish is timeless because it is not obnoxious, and this makes it wearable and suitable. This iteration combines sheer, pale pink to a creamy ivory-white of the nails giving a soft-focus effect to each one. It is stunning as the base of minimalist brides or to anyone who wishes to have their nails to be fresh and clean and not to compete with other elements such as accessories or the dress.
Get some clear pink such as OPI, bubble bath and a milky white nail polish such as OPI funny bunny. Do the ombr using a sponge, lightly tapping and blending the two colors in a manner as invisible as possible. A little patience is required, but the end result is so cloud-like it is worth every dab.
This look requires a light hand. After prepping, start with the sheer pink all over. Then sponge the white polish inside out till the fade becomes natural. That smooth transition and soft shine are provided by a final topcoat sheet polished.
Once the light has turned golden and the leaves have begun to fall this is the type of nail that I tend to be attracted to. It has some peace to it, as though they are entering some welcome moment of calmness prior to the center breeze of a wedding day.
