Denim blue and cool greys is a combination I always revert to in the fall. It is a certainty to go full-on with one color narrative, and this ensemble drapes charcoal, denim with a wash, and dull accessories like a sigh. The bulky wool coat is a classic and the powder-blue scarf gives it a soft touch that changes the entire silhouette. It is stylish without making an effort, such as a subtle reference to Scandinavian layering.
It is that grey coat that is likely to become one of those wardrobe anchors that you can create dozens of outfits around. The scarf is thick and appears to be tied carefully-not too perfect. Would I tweak it? Perhaps with a thick knit hat or a wool scarf instead of the one I have now in case I was going out earlier in the morning. Otherwise, it’s a nearly flawless fall formula.
Soft Knits and Straight Denim for Timeless Fall Days
It feels good to go back to the basics, cream knits and classic denim will never be out of fashion. This ensemble covers you in softness with its textured sweater and straight-cut jeans. The pattern of the knit is diamond, which is not too much and does not overload the appearance, and the light blue denim makes it easy and clean. The dull boots bring everything to earth tones, which is ideal during those cold afternoons when the sun is shining through amber leaves.
What I like here is that each of the pieces is simply… enough. The high neck of the knit is not crowded and warm, and the fit is loose and elegant. I believe this would be ideal to a pre-dinner stroll or dinner in town. I would probably include a wool coat or even a long knit cardigan to add some drama. And in case I had to dress up the appearance a bit, perhaps some tortoise-shell jewelry or a berry-colored lipstick.
